Pwllheli Rotary started in 1927 and from the beginning we have supported the local communities with energy, kindness and a real sense of community spirit. From our much-loved Santa Float to beach clean-ups and fundraising for vital projects, we love bringing people together to make a difference.

Santa Float Fundraiser
Each Christmas, our famous Santa Float makes its way around the Llŷn Peninsula, spreading cheer and collecting donations. Over the past 10 years we’ve raised over £60,000, which we’ve shared with local schools, youth groups, food banks and community organisations. Over 20 local community groups support us in our collections.
Polio Awareness & Fundraising
We’re also part of the global fight to end polio. We have supported this initiative since it started id 1985 and some 6 years ago teamed up with a local artist and raised over £4,200 for the End Polio Now campaign, selling handmade crocus buttonholes and raffle tickets for an original painting. Thanks to matched funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, every pound went even further.
Environmental Efforts

Caring for our surroundings is really important to us. On Earth Day 2025 we organised a litter pick at Cob Crwn in Porthmadog, and with help from the council and harbourmaster, we filled 16 bin bags – plus some much bigger bits of rubbish – making the embankment cleaner and more welcoming for walkers and wildlife.
We’ve also run tree-planting days and beach clean-ups, encouraging others to join us in looking after our beautiful local environment.
Friendships & Fundraising

Being part of Pwllheli Rotary isn’t just about projects – it’s about people too. We enjoy getting together, sharing ideas, and building lasting friendships. Whether it’s a fundraising dinner, a local festival or a community project, we always work side by side with good humour and teamwork.
As for fundraising, every pound we raise goes straight back into supporting causes that matter locally and globally.
The Power of Volunteering
At the heart of everything we do is volunteering. We give our time and energy because we care, and the reward is seeing the positive change that follows. Many of us say how much joy and fulfilment this brings – it really does make volunteering a two-way gift.
Inspiring the Next Generation
We’re also passionate about encouraging young people to grow as leaders and change makers. Over the years, we’ve sponsored local young people to take part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) and in coordination with Coleg Meirion Dwyfor funded places on residential courses to help them build skills in writing, teamwork and confidence. Supporting the next generation is one of the most important things we do.
Looking Ahead
We want Pwllheli Rotary to keep growing so that we can carry on serving our community for years to come. We’re always looking for new ways to meet local needs, adapt to new challenges and make sure what we do has real impact.
The future is exciting, and with the continued support of our members and our community, we’ll keep building something lasting here in Pwllheli.
